Rural & Field Operations

Navigation that works in the field.

Agricultural equipment operates far outside reliable network coverage. Farun GPS Navigator keeps topographical maps, offline routing, and precision GNSS fully on-device, so operators don't lose guidance when the signal disappears.

The Problem

Standard maps don't work in the field.

Agricultural equipment operates in the ultimate edge environment. Cloud navigation freezes without signal, and consumer apps lack the topographical data and rural road context necessary for heavy machinery operating far from the main road.

Consumer Maps Don't Cover Fields

Standard navigation apps are built for highways, not farm tracks. They lack the topographical resolution and rural road context needed for heavy agricultural equipment operating far from sealed roads.

Cellular Coverage Ends At The Farm Gate

Farmland and rural frontiers are notorious network dead zones. Cloud-reliant navigation tools go blank the moment equipment leaves the main road, exactly where accurate routing matters most.

Terrain Visibility Is Missing

Understanding elevation, slopes, and gradients is critical for operating heavy machinery safely. 2D consumer maps leave operators without any sense of the physical terrain ahead.

Consumer Devices Aren't Built For Cab Use

Tablets and phones drain batteries, lose mount stability in rough terrain, and aren't rated for dust, heat, or vibration exposure. They aren't designed for continuous hardwired operation in a tractor cab.

Device Capabilities

What the GPS Navigator does for field operations.

The GPS Navigator is a standalone device. It doesn't require a phone, a SIM card, a cloud subscription, or any external infrastructure. Every capability below runs entirely on-device, in the cab, without a network connection.

30m Elevation Topo

See the terrain before you drive it.

Farun renders 30-metre elevation profiles on-device from locally stored SRTM data. Operators can see field gradients and topographical context without any network connection, entirely offline, entirely on-device.

On-device SRTM topographical dataset. No cloud request.

Offline Routing

Routes designed for machines, not cars.

The GPS Navigator's offline routing engine distinguishes between sealed highways, unsealed farm tracks, and restricted paths. Operators follow routes appropriate for the vehicle they're driving without relying on a signal to recalculate.

Vehicle profile aware - weight, height, surface type.

Offline Geocoding

Find rural locations without a cell tower.

Search for local POIs, custom waypoints, and rural infrastructure from the device's on-board database. The device doesn't need network access to resolve a location, the search index is stored locally.

Full-text local database search. No network dependency.

Rugged Hardware

Built for the cab, not the desk.

The GPS Navigator is hardwired to the vehicle's 5V supply, and mounted with a dedicated bracket. It runs continuously without a battery to manage and without heat-related shutdowns from shared phone screens.

5V hardwired. Dash mount.

For Developers

Building ag-tech software?

The Farun location APIs are a separate product for developers and companies building map-based ag-tech software, field assessment tools, irrigation planning apps, route planning for rural logistics, and land classification workflows. They're not part of the GPS Navigator hardware and not required to use it.

If you're integrating Farun APIs into your own software, start with the API hub.

Without Farun

  • Operators navigate blind when cloud routing drops in the field - no offline fallback, the screen goes blank
  • 2D consumer maps show roads but not terrain - no slope, gradient, or elevation context for heavy machinery
  • Standard GPS apps route for cars, not tractors - no awareness of unpaved surfaces, weight limits, or track types
  • Consumer hardware isn't hardwired - battery dependency, heat shutdowns, and mount instability in rough conditions

With Farun GPS Navigator

  • Full routing, POI search, and 30m topography available on-device at all times - signal or not
  • Operators see terrain gradients and elevation directly on the device screen before driving the route
  • Routing engine distinguishes paved, unsealed, and restricted tracks - appropriate routes for the machine in the cab
  • Hardware hardwired to 5V supply - runs continuously without a battery or shared screen
