Coastal & Offshore

Navigation beyond the shoreline.

Marine operators need chart context and positioning even when offshore connectivity drops. Farun brings nautical layers, dynamic speed-based isochrones, and precision GNSS to a rugged, standalone edge device.

The Problem

Consumer maps stop at the pier.

Operating on the water requires a completely different spatial context. Standard mapping apps lose signal quickly offshore, and traditional marine chartplotters lock your data into expensive, closed-loop ecosystems.

Cellular Networks Vanish Offshore

Most modern mobile navigation apps are useless beyond a few miles offshore. Map layers, routing, and safety parameters disappear exactly when the environment becomes most unpredictable.

Dedicated Hardware is Locked-In

Dedicated marine GPS units are expensive, proprietary, and difficult to integrate with other operational software. Replacing them with something open and capable is overdue.

Reachability is a Guessing Game

Without real-time calculation of your speed and surrounding geographical boundaries, knowing exactly how far a vessel can reach safely within a time limit is left to manual charting.

Switching Hardware at the Shore

Harbour logistics teams, amphibious rescue units, and coastal researchers often have to run two entirely separate tracking systems for their road vs. water operations.

How Farun Helps

Four capabilities for offshore confidence.

Every capability below runs on the GPS Navigator itself - no cloud, no subscription, no additional hardware. The device reads its own GNSS, renders its own charts, and computes reachability from its own speed data.

Nautical Cartography

Depth contours and restricted zones.

Farun renders highly compressed offline marine vector layers. Access depth contours, navigation buoys, shipping lanes, and restricted area overlays instantly from the device's solid-state drive.

Switch between terrestrial maps and marine charts instantly.

Dynamic Isochrones

Speed-based reachability rings.

Visualize a real-time, dynamic radius around your vessel based on your current GNSS speed (SOG). Know instantly if a destination is reachable within your timeframe.

Calculated entirely on-device without server roundtrips.

Marine Waypoints

Safe path calculation.

Plan complex routes across open water while our edge-compute engine automatically respects shallow water exclusions and mapped coastal boundaries.

Set minimum depth safety parameters directly in the UI.

Amphibious Operation

From the dashboard to the helm.

One device, two domains. Unclip the device from your 4x4, mount it on your vessel, and continue tracking without losing your GNSS lock or navigation state.

Safe for operations at sea.

For Developers

Building marine software on Farun's data?

The Farun location APIs are a separate developer product for teams building coastal management tools, harbour dispatch apps, and reachability platforms on top of the same spatial dataset that powers the GPS Navigator.

APIs are not required to use the GPS Navigator hardware. Available separately via RapidAPI.

View all APIs

Without Farun

  • Consumer mapping apps lose signal and map context a few miles offshore
  • Traditional chartplotters trap your operational data in closed ecosystems
  • Reachability and ETAs are guessed manually without dynamic isochrones
  • Teams are forced to buy separate systems for land vehicles and watercraft

With Farun

  • Full nautical charts, routing, and depth contours available on-device globally
  • Access your raw SOG and COG telemetry via local open APIs
  • See your exact speed-based reachability radius visualized in real-time
  • One device handles both overland and maritime operations
